Part II over here
I'm the sort of person who learns best visually - so when I sat down to plan this year's NaNoWriMo-effort, I decided to design what my characters looked like - even though it's going to be a novel, not a comic. I actually learned more about them as characters this way.
Guy on the far left is my main character, Cathal Merrick, a city watchman for whom justice is what religion is to most other people. Next to him is Saskia Bole, who rules the watch house with an iron fist.
The grinning man in the middle is Barclay Flynn, steampunk mafioso-extraordinaire, who is quite possibly the most selfish man alive. Standing next to him is Ezekiel Marley, completely illegal alchemist who runs an apothecary for a living and moonlights as a black market bomb-maker. On the far left is Isabell, who is a prostitute.
... Yes. This year's NaNo is going to be interesting. I've got about half the characters left to draw, but that might be a while; I need to actually finish writing my outline before November, or I'm screwed.

great color choices! and I'm totally the same about drawing the characters I'm writing about- It really brings out nuances of their appearance AND personality that I might not have thought of otherwise.
